Catechesis Corner 04-08

We experienced a holy Lent in the atriums, preparing for the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.  We buried “Alleluia” and missed it greatly.  It keeps us from taking it for granted.  Lisa Stone presented The Women at the Tomb for the Level I atrium on Easter morning, and Patsy Foley presented the same lesson using new materials reflecting the Matthew Gospel to the Level II and Level III children.  Thanks to all who helped hide eggs for the Easter Egg Hunt, and thanks to Nancy

Bowering and Crystal Thompson for the lovely feast that followed the egg hunt.

The Level III atrium designed and prepared a lovely Easter banner.  It is located in the church beside the St. Philip’s banner.  Please take a moment to check out their creativity!

Communion Instruction continues in the Level II atrium.  It will culminate on April 13, Good Shepherd Sunday.  The focus of this instruction is the relationship we have with God and Jesus.  In these presentations, we see that whenever the lost coin is found or the lost sheep is found, joy is experienced.  Joy is different from happiness in that it can’t be contained within you; it must be shared with others.  In keeping with this theme of joy, Catechesis would like to invite you to a reception honoring the children in Communion Instruction this year.  It will be held in the Parish
Hall at 9:45 am on April 13, 2008.  The children’s banners will be on display at this time.  Please stop by and visit with the children on their special day.  This is the day for grandparents and extended family to come to St. Philip’s for a visit!

It is also time to begin preparing for the future.  Catechesis needs someone to learn the Level II material as I plan to retire from this ministry in May.  We also need people to learn the Level I and III curriculums.  Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level I Training begins on May 16 and 17 at St. Andrew’s Cathedral.  Our own Pam Hopton will be involved in this
training as a formation leader.  Please contact Patsy Foley at 601-856-2784 or
